Heat Pumps Supply Chains

Australia's heat pump supply chain combines imports with local knowledge and manufacturing

February 2024

Heat pumps are crucial for electrification and decarbonisation

Driving demand for and local supply of heat pumps could reduce emissions by 11% and benefit the Australian economy by generating $28.9 billion in revenue and creating at least 18,000 jobs by 2030.

Heat pumps are four to five times more efficient than fossil gas or resistance electric heating

Heat pumps enable electricity to replace fossil gas as a power source for space and water heating in homes, businesses and factories. Because they are energy efficient, users can benefit from cheaper energy bills without compromising effectiveness. Heat pump technology is also going through rapid development, resulting in an increasing range of products and places in which they can be used.
