BZE welcomes new board member Susheela Peres da Costa
November 30, 2022
At last night’s 2022 AGM, Beyond Zero Emissions took important steps forward in our growth and maturity journey as an organisation. A summary of the key outcomes follows.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new director to our board, Susheela Peres da Costa. Susheela is Principal at the Stewardship Centre, Chair of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia, Director of the Nature Conservation Council of NSW and of US-based think tank, The Shareholder Commons.
She has advised financial institutions on responsible investment governance, strategy, and implementation since 2006, and her clients include some of the world’s largest banks, pension funds, wealth advisers and asset managers, and major global responsible investment organisations such as the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment.
This year, outgoing director Colin Irving completed two three year terms on the board. Colin’s insight and guidance – not only as an engineer but his experience in commercial system-wide change – has been invaluable to his board colleagues and to the management team. During his term, Colin also acted as Treasurer with great diligence and commitment to the organisation.
Congratulations to our current director Cristina Talacko for a successful reelection and we look forward to her second three year term. We have been immensely grateful for Cristina’s perspectives and the work she has done broadening the organisation’s network and reach.
The success of 2022 is a credit to the oversight and guidance of our board members – Geoff Summerhayes (Chairperson), Phil Vernon, Elisa de Wit, and Dr Anne Hellstedt – who have worked tirelessly to ensure our organisation is governed to the highest of standards.
We are immensely proud of the work we accomplished this year. Our projects have inspired governments, industry and communities to be more ambitious as Australia transitions to a zero-emissions economy.
We have an extraordinary group of talented and committed individuals working at BZE and it has been a fantastic period of individual growth and team maturity. We warmly thank every staff member and our volunteers for being with us this year.
And it would not be possible for BZE to achieve our vision of a prosperous, zero-emissions Australia without the generous support of our donor community. While passion fuels our team, money keeps the lights on. And the commitment shown by our donor community is the foundation of the fantastic achievements of this past year. It takes all of us, together, to make this happen.
