Business community, conservation organisations and renewable energy companies are joining to thank the NSW Parliament for legislation to power NSW’s renewable energy revolution

Amongst the long list of over 30 prominent groups supporting this historic legislation is Australia’s second largest super fund AWARE, Australian property group Mirvac and global retail brand IKEA. See full list of supporting organisations.

Aware Super CEO Deanne Stewart said, “We believe that sustainable investments will be more successful in the long-term. Investing in renewables and storage capacity not only supports our members to achieve a better retirement outcome, it also supports a growing industry that will drive economic growth in NSW and beyond.”

“This is the biggest, most substantial commitment by any state government to a clean energy transition and a major strategic pivot towards making Australia a renewable superpower,” said WWF-Australia Energy Transition Manager Nicky Ison.

John Grimes, CEO of the Smart Energy Council said, “The NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap puts New South Wales streets ahead in the drive towards a smart energy future. This is a road trip for the ages and we’re itching to go.”

CEO of Australian Ethical, John McMurdo said, “This roadmap will help Australians – including ethical investors like ourselves – capture even more of the benefits offered by our booming renewable sector.

“By harnessing our natural energy resources, this forward-thinking approach will unlock significant investment into wind, solar and battery technologies while delivering sustainable, affordable and reliable energy to grow the economy and support jobs.”

Beyond Zero Emissions chair Eytan Lenko said, “The more than 9,000 jobs and $32 billion of private investment expected to roll into NSW regions by 2030 under the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap is just the beginning. The Beyond Zero Emissions Million Jobs plan shows that an accelerated deployment of renewable energy can create close to 340,000 much needed construction and manufacturing jobs across Australia over the next 5 years, including in regions affected by high unemployment.”

NSW, we can’t wait to get started!
