Beyond Zero Emissions technology statement response

The recently announced Low Emissions Technology Statement by Energy Minister, Angus Taylor, details five high priority technologies.

Of these, Clean Hydrogen, Energy Storage and Low Carbon Materials are initiatives that have been identified in the Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) Million Jobs Plan and BZE welcomes their inclusion in the Technology Roadmap.

“The inclusion of these technologies will require a large-scale rollout of affordable and reliable renewable energy to enable success. Renewables will provide the underlying power to create clean Hydrogen and drive our manufacturing industry,” said Eytan Lenko, Executive Chair of Beyond Zero Emissions.

“The BZE Million Jobs Plan shows that Australia can roll out 90GW of renewable energy and supporting transmission infrastructure over the next five years to create over 200,000 jobs. Clean Hydrogen and Low Carbon Materials will increase demand for low-cost, clean power generation.

“Electrifying Australia’s mining and manufacturing sectors including Aluminum and Steel has the potential to add 230,000 jobs over the next 5 years through increased competitiveness that low-cost energy provides.”

“The market has identified that the growth and export market for Hydrogen will be for renewables based Hydrogen, and this has been the focus of other countries such as France and Germany. The race is certainly on.
