Beyond Zero Emissions is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Tan as Communications and Media Manager

Beyond Zero Emissions is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Tan as Communications and Media Manager.

Monica Tan is a seasoned media, comms and campaign professional. She has over a decade of journalism and environmentalism experience, including at Guardian Australia in Sydney and Greenpeace in Beijing.

She comes to Beyond Zero Emissions hot on the heels of campaign success in the Northern Territory where she ran the Repower NT campaign for the Environment Centre NT. In 2018, Beyond Zero Emissions co-authored the 10 Gigawatt Vision report with The Environment Centre NT. This formed an important component of the Repower NT campaign and a historic first for an NT election: bipartisan support for renewable energy.

Monica says, “The 10 Gigawatt Vision report is what drew me to the role at The Environment Centre and by the same token The Million Jobs Plan is what most excites me about my new role at Beyond Zero Emissions.”

“The Plan is a vital and visionary lifeline for our country during this COVID-fueled economic crisis. And the impact that both the 10 Gigawatt Vision is having on the NT and the Million Jobs Plan nationally is proof that in national discussions around energy we’ve been missing solidly researched, economy-boosting, job-creating roadmaps towards a low-carbon future.

“Through compelling comms and high precision lobbying, Repower NT secured renewable energy commitments from all parties across the political spectrum. It’s a privilege to have an opportunity to bring these learnings to Beyond Zero Emissions.”

CEO Chris Arnott said, “We are delighted to welcome Monica to the growing Beyond Zero Emissions team and to create ongoing and positive impact through her skills and experience.”

Monica Tan will commence on October 5th, 2020.
