In February’s Discussion Group, we're profiling innovators and leading organisations we believe will help drive Australia’s clean recovery.

This year, Australia has an incredible opportunity to set ourselves on the path to economic growth and create thousands of future-proofed jobs by investing in a low-carbon economy. Our Million Jobs Plan shows how in just five years, renewables and low-emissions projects can deliver 1.8 million new jobs in the regions and communities these are needed most.

Heidi Lee

CEO

Heidi was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Zero Emissions in 2020. In the decade prior she held several leadership roles at Beyond Zero Emissions, including on the Buildings Plan, as Board Director and Chair, as Business and Industry Lead, and leading our successful Million Jobs Plan. Heidi is an expert in sustainable buildings and urban design and brings 20 years of experience in creating sustainable cities to her role at Beyond Zero Emissions.

Scientia Prof. Veena Sahajwalla

Director, Centre for Sustainable Materials Research & Technology

Professor Veena Sahajwalla is an internationally recognised materials scientist, engineer and inventor revolutionising recycling science. She is renowned for pioneering the high temperature transformation of waste in the production of a new generation of ‘green materials.’ In 2018, Veena launched the world's first e-waste micro factory and in 2019 she launched her plastics micro factory, a recycling technology breakthrough. She is producing a new generation of green materials and products made entirely, or primarily, from waste. Veena also heads the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for ‘green manufacturing’, a leading national research centre that works in collaboration with industry to ensure new recycling science is translated into real world environmental and economic benefits.

Dr. Alexander Post

Chief Technology Officer, MGA Thermal

Dr. Alexander Post is a physicist/mechanical engineer focusing on solar power systems and their economics. He is particularly interested in how Miscibility Gap Alloy technology can be incorporated into large scale applications to enhance productivity or produce clean, renewable energy directly from the sun’s heat - and is always on the search for innovative new use cases.
