A National Home Retrofits Scheme has the potential to create 900,000 jobs in the next five years.

Our #MillionJobsPlan proposed deep energy retrofits to 2.5 million Australian dwellings and addresses Australia’s chronic shortfall of social housing by building 150,000 energy-efficient social homes. Independent analysis of the plan found that a national scheme would lift GDP by 0.19% and real after-tax wages by 0.31%.

This month’s discussion group focused on a national scheme to rollout home retrofits on a mass scale.

Kelvin Wicks

Researcher

Kelvin is a Researcher at Beyond Zero Emissions, specialising in large-scale home retrofits. Inspired by the Beyond Zero Emissions's Stationary Energy Plan, and our ambitious climate solutions when he was a first year undergraduate, Kelvin joined as a volunteer before becoming a Research Assistant in 2020. Kelvin graduated from the University of Melbourne in both environmental engineering and building energy efficiency. He brings an interdisciplinary approach to designing practical built environment and climate solutions.
